Holding Pictures Brand
Brief
On the back of work for Weta Group and The Water Horse, we were engaged by Beacon Films’ principle to re-brand their motion picture company to reflect the ‘action and adventure’ films they have coming up in the next few years. The brief included a new name and logo, the application of that device to corporate collateral and their companies Santa Monica beach offices, as well as a live action ‘motion logo’ to play before their movie titles and an “Oscar winning interactive experience”.
Solution
In two months we named and branded the company Holding Pictures, a reflection of the upcoming movie titles where action and adventure themes feature prominently. The motion logo pre-production was completed shortly afterwards and now awaits a shoot schedule with Weta Workshop closer to the company’s next movie release. The website is still in production, but features a full CGI generated virtual landscape through which users navigate by controlling a live action climber or via the cover flow navigation at the bottom of the page. The sites main content consists of movie titles that ‘roll’ the CGI environment out of frame sideways and then unfold centre-screen like a pop-up theatre set when activated by a hotspot on the rock face the climber is ascending.
Results
The site build and motion logo are still in production, however all functional and design specs have been approved.
